Caboose
Cabooses were once located at the tail end of freight trains. Traditionally, the caboose was used as an observation post for engineers to detect any potential dangers on the tracks. Crew members were able to detect overheated journal bearings that cause derailments. Cabooses have since been replaced with automatic detectors on the side of the tracks.
Centre Beam Car
his is a common car used for transporting lumber, timber and pulpwood.
Flatcar
A freight car without tops or sides, the latcar is used to transport commodities that do not require protection from weather.
