Medication
If you are taking medication of any kind, make sure to put your medicines in your carry-on baggage, with notes or special instructions on them, if necessary. For more information, consult your ticket agent.
Travel Documents
Before traveling, always check whether you have the correct tickets and identiication cards. In compliance with the federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Amtrak conducts a random check that asks passengers to produce acceptable identification
on board.
Crossing the US-Canada Border
The following procedures can help ensure a quick and safe passage if your trip involves travel across the US-Canada border. Such Amtrak border crossings are subject to law enforcement inspection by American and Canadian oicials.
When you travel, you must carry with you the same ID used for making the reservation. Please ensure that the ID is the original identiication document, valid at the time of travel. Photocopies, or other forms of duplication, expired or not, are invalid and cannot be accepted. Also, please ensure that each traveler has their own ID.
Sometimes, delays at border crossings are unavoidable. When they occur, they are typically due to immigration and customs procedures, and thus remain outside of Amtrak’s control.
Red Cap Service
When you need help with your baggage, Amtrak’s uniformed Red Caps provide their assistance for free — available at certain Amtrak stations. For all luggage handled, Red Caps will supply a claim check.
